Israeli war planes continued their air raids on the Gaza Strip on Friday at dawn; many targets were hit including the environs of the residence of the Palestinian prime minister, Ismail Haniyeh, in Shati' refugee camp in Gaza City. Six of his guards were reported to be injured.

Our Gaza correspondent reported that F-16 planes launched a rocket at one of the barriers where the prime minister's guards were stationed, injuring six of them.

A spokeswomen of the Israeli army said, "It is for sure that the house of Haniyeh was not targeted." She added, "A strike targeted an establishment used by the Hamas movement in the camp."

The raid came after the Israeli government threatened that the prime minister would be targeted in addition to other prominent leaders of Hamas and other factions.

The Israeli planes launched many raids on the Gaza Strip overnight, targeting positions belonging to the Hamas movement and to the Executive Force in several towns and cities in the Strip.

Rafah Hospital director Dr Ali Moussa said that nine Palestinians were admitted to his hospital suffering from slight injuries.

Our Rafah correspondent reported that another position belonging to the Executive Force in the Tal As Sultan neighbourhood of Rafah was also targeted but no casualties were reported.

On Thursday, at least six Palestinians were injured in Israeli air raids on the Strip.
